GED exams paid for by Mesa County Libraries

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- Monday was the first day of preparatory classes for students looking to earn their GED.

Students that successfully complete classes and meet certain conditions are eligible to have their GED exam paid for. United Way of Mesa County is funding the payment of GED exams and will continue to pay for exams as long as funding is available.

“One last barrier that students had was the GED test itself because a GED test is $150, and that can be a lot of money for someone who doesn’t have that kind of income coming in,” says Head of Literacy Services, James Price.

Fifty-five students are currently enrolled in the GED program.
