GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The future of Glacier Ice Arena is still unclear, but staff there say the City of Grand Junction has shown some interest in buying it.
About a week ago, city staff toured the ice rink facility.
The owner tells us there are other buyers interested in the building too, but the city is the only group that wants to keep it as an ice rink.
If it was bought by another private company, staff say it could be turned into a showroom or a warehouse-type building.
The facility is currently listed at $2.4 million.
"This is a community facility. Ice rinks in general across the nation…90% of the time they are owned by the municipalities, either the city or the county. So this is a good fit, it only makes sense," said co-owner of Glacier Ice Arena, Robbie Coos.
The rink has been for sale since June of 2019.
The city has not made an offer on the building.
