Fire engulfs Clifton barn; no animals, people hurt, chief says

CLIFTON, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Local crews were working to put out a barn fire early Thursday morning in Clifton.

Mesa County dispatchers confirmed it happened on D 1/2 Road, near 33 Road.

The call went out around 3 a.m.

Several fire departments responded, including crews from Palisade and Grand Junction.

The Grand Junction Fire Department said the barn and everything inside are believed to be a total loss.

Clifton Fire Chief Charles Balke said no people or animals were hurt.
D 1/2 Road was shutdown between 33 and 33 1/2 roads.

The exact total amount of damage was unclear.
