GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-- The Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday honored local businesses for their recent expansions.

Hummel Real Estate, Red Rock Radio Group, Unifirst Mortgage, MCC Drug and Alcohol Screening, Alpine Banks, Taco Bell and Community Hospital received expansion awards for this quarter.

Combined, these business have added 103 jobs to the community with an $80 million capital investment. Community Hospital alone added 78 jobs.

Matt Rosenberg, Rosecap Investments and CMU faculty, presented a presentation on the global, state and local economy.

"The actual impact of this is pretty nominal. I think grand junction is pretty unique in that we have kind of already bottomed. It's hard to get much worse there's so much upside here."

He said the area has lost a lot without oil and gas driving the economy. Grand Junction does have the opportunity to add several jobs through manufacturing, recreational activities, and CMU.
