District 51 looking at possibility of new Grand Junction High School building

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- If you've been inside Grand Junction High School, you've probably noticed that it's pretty run down and old.

District 51 is well aware of it too. They're in the very beginning stages of looking towards building a new GJHS with the possibility of a BEST grant.

Teachers and staff from GJHS and the district traveled to other schools around the nation to see what designs they liked the most.

At Tuesday night's planning meeting, they talked heavily of having an open, communal style building and having more than one floor to maximize space.

Now, the school board will decide if they want the district to move forward with applying for that BEST grant.
