A struggle with Delta Law Enforcement leads to subject losing consciousness, being transferred to St. Mary's

DELTA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- A 33-year-old male was taken to St. Mary's after a fight ensued between him and law enforcement after the Delta Police Department responded to a call of a suspicious male breaking into vehicles.

At approximately 11:48 a.m. the Delta Police Department responded to the call in the 40 Heinz Mobile Home Park.

When officers arrived they contacted the 33-year-old- Caucasian male in the area and the subject became combative with the two officers on the scene.

A fight ensued and during the struggle, the subject became nonresponsive and the officers said the man lost consciousness.

Life-saving measures were taken and the Delta County Ambulance District responded and the man was transported to the Delta County Memorial Hospital.

He then was immediately transferred to St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction for more treatment.

The 7th Judicial Critical Incident Investigation Team has been requested to investigate this case due to the "use of force" the officers took on the subject.

Identities to all involved have not yet been released.
