DELTA, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- It was a tough Monday to go back to school for students at Delta High School.
A senior student passed away after a car crash took his life, and critically injured others, but this community has felt this kind of pain before.
The Delta County Sheriff's Office says a serious crash happened east of 2100 road and E road, in the Peach Valley area of Delta.
Deputies found two current Delta High School students and two recent high school graduates at the scene.
One of them was pronounced dead shortly after deputies arrived.
Officials from Delta County School District 50-J say this is now the fourth Delta High student in the last three years that has died.
One woman says her daughter is currently a student at the school, and the situation is hard to handle.
"I watch my student, my child go through it, and I feel the impact that it has on her, and watch the other kids that it impacts tremendously. You grow to love one another, and support each other's kids as if they are your own," said parent, Tori Andre.
We still don't know the identities of the students involved; the Delta County Coroner has not released that information.
Another current student at the school was taken to st. Mary's and at last check, was in critical condition.
Colorado State Patrol says this was one of six deadly crashes that troopers responded to in a 12 hour period, over November 9th and 10th.
