GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- David Castro has been sentenced to 96 years in prison after he was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of Kyle Free.
Both Free's and Castro's family appeared in court today. In this photo, you can see Free's family, holding hands as they prayed for a guilty verdict moments before the sentencing began.
Both families read letters--describing the type of person both men were before Free's death. Free was reportedly killed in the garage of Rebecca Walker in April of 2018.
Walker is believed to have called Castro and another man John Eddy over to her house. Free was shot and left for dead in the garage.
His body was found several months later in a remote area of the grand mesa.
Free’s family pleaded to the judge for maximum sentencing.
