D51 buses running late during the first week back to school

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT News)-- The first week of school can be hectic for everyone: parents, students, even the buses.

D51 posted on their Facebook page that buses will likely be running late the first few days of school because of the increased traffic. Some parents responded to the post saying it took their child longer than usual to arrive home.

“The first week is always that way. New students who've never ridden a bus before, sometimes new bus drivers learning new routes,” says Fruita parent, Kelly Mason.

The best thing parents can do is to download The SafeStop App, which can allow you to track your child's bus. It will be available for use starting on August 19.
