GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- The Mesa County Coroner has identified the man killed in the 28 Road shooting Monday morning.

We're told Eric Ludwick died from a gunshot to the chest. He was 43 years old. A search of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation shows Ludwick had been in-and-out of jail since the early 90's, most recently in February 2018 for trespassing and assault in Mesa County. In 2010, Ludwick was picked up by Dog the Bounty Hunter in Montrose. He was held on a million dollar bond for failure to appear in court.

As far as the suspect in Ludwick's death, Grand Junction police are looking for Joseph Peace on charges of second degree murder. Searches for Peace in the CBI for any criminal history turned up nothing. Law enforcement said he's a white male with blue eyes. He's bald with multiple tattoos, and about 5' 7" and 180 pounds.

Police were called to the scene at 28 road and Ridge Drive early Monday morning. Ludwick was found dead inside the car officers responded to in the middle of the road.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Mesa County Crime Ctoppers at 241-STOP.
