PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) It's a new twist on giving. The Food Bank of the Rockies made a big donation to Community Food Bank.
They gave Community Food Bank an industrial size freezer. It'll help the non-profit even more for this upcoming holiday season. It's almost 80 feet long and will get packed with meats, breads and maybe even cheesecakes.
Community Food Bank said it does have other freezers, but they're 30 years old.
"Demand is greater and it will be a lifesaver as far as increasing our capacity to meet the need we're seeing walk through our doors," said Community Food Bank Executive Director Darcy Johnson.
This new addition will also help them cut back on their energy bills in a business where every penny counts. Last year, Community Food Bank served more than 6,000 new customers.
