GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)- With a new year comes a new chairman for the Board of Commissioners.
On Monday Mesa County Commissioners voted unanimously for Scott McInnis as the 2020 chairman for the board. McInnis succeeds Commissioner Rose Pugliese, who served as Chairwoman in 2019. Commissioner McInnis says this year they are planning to continue work on a number of challenges including jail expansion and road and bridge issues.
"We've got a great set of employees. We have approximately, give or take because it changes, maybe 1200 employees. We have excellent working relationships with the different communities including the City of Grand Junction, Fruita and Palisade," says McInnis.
McInnis served as a member of the Colorado House of Representatives for the 57th District, where he was elected House Majority Leader, and served in the U.S. House of Representatives for Colorado's 3rd District for six terms.
