Colorado free of known wild pigs
After nearly 15 years, Colorado Parks and Wildlife says Colorado is free of all known feral swine.
Also known as wild pigs, officials say the animal messes with crops, causing billions of damage around the world.
They have a high reproduction rate and can spread disease to livestock, wildlife, and people.
Mesa County hasn’t seen wild pigs in several years.
"Over a period of generations, these animals adapt very easily to the wild, they compete with other wildlife species, they prey upon a variety of food sources including wildlife,” says CPW Kirk Oldham.
Officials say they will continue to keep an eye out for the animal.
If you see one, call CPW, not 911.
