BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Thousands took to the streets of downtown Breckenridge Thursday night for the 56th annual Ullr Festival.

It's a four-day festival going on through the weekend.

Welcoming snow lovers of all ages to dress up as Vikings and dance around the bonfire to welcome Ullr, the God of Snow.

Last night was the parade and "shotski" challenge.

The Breckenridge Distillery hosts the unofficial record for the longest shot. This year they had 433 skis, that came out to about 2,304 feet long.

Almost 1,300 hundred people participated. Folks say it's a friendly rivalry between Breckenridge and Park City, Utah.

Friday was the ice plunge into Maggie Pond. One by one people ran down the red carpet and dove into the icy waters. Luckily a warm hot tub was waiting in the wings.

Saturday is the ski skating party, bike race, and film festival. For more info click the link to the right of this article.
