Baby okay after falling from second floor window

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- One western colorado mom is grateful after her 10-month-old baby managed to climb out of the second floor window of their home, falling to the ground below.

The mom says she was preparing her kids back to school clothes and was keeping a close eye on the baby, but she says she turned away for one second to hang clothes on a clothing rack.

She heard a loud noise and didn't see her baby, Boaz.

She looked out the window to find him lying on the ground. She rushed to get him and immediately called 9-1-1.

Boaz was taken to the hospital with minor scrapes to his face and hands. Doctors say he is doing just fine.

"Truthfully I think be as diligent as you can, but also give yourself grace because accidents happen to everyone, and it only takes one second and there's no possible way that you can prepare for every single thing that can ever possibly happen to your kids. I would have never thought that with a screen and window that at least I thought was should, he could've possibly fallen out the window,” says Palisade Mom Sarah Schumann.

The house was built in the early 1900's, and the windows are from that original time.
