Annual plant sale and tree auction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- CSU Extension is fundraising at their annual plant sale and tree auction.

The money that is raised will go towards the gardening programs at CSU Extension and will help with things like bringing in experts to teach classes.

It will also help to fund weed control for the gardens.

Officials say each year over two hundred people come out to buy the plants. 25 trees were up for auction.

“Falls a great time for planting, so you get a lot of root growth this time of year, that the ground is still warmer than the air. So it’s a good time to plant even though you won’t see top growth in the plant, you’re going to see root growth in the plant,” says CSU Extension Susan Carter.

Officials say most of the plants are donated by local companies, and others are grown by some of their master gardeners.
