5K 'Color the Rock' run combines fun and fitness in Palisade

PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT) -- Combining fun and fitness, MAD Racing set up a 5K course through Riverbend Park in Palisade.

Runners trekked across concrete and dirt paths, getting blasted with colored chalk all along the way. This is the first annual “Color the Rock Run," and the event sold out.

One of those reasons? It’s a healthy way to spend a Saturday, according to one of the first finishers, Matt Cirkovic.

“I just love the setting, I mean Palisade is so beautiful, and I just love being out here. It’s a beautiful day out today,” Cirkovic said.

Proceeds from the Color the Rock run go to the Girls Ministries and Royal Rangers at Rock Church in Grand Junction.
