State Patrol looking for two suspects, ask Fruita community to be vigilant

FRUITA, Colo. (KJCT)- Colorado State Patrol (CSP) are looking for two suspects in Fruita after they ditched a hijacked vehicle from California on Friday morning.

Possible suspect involved (CSP Fruita)

Earlier on Friday, Utah State Patrol (USP) spotted the vehicle on I-70 in Utah, and briefly pursued the vehicle. However, they discontinued their chase at some point.

Colorado State Patrol says that the car was missing out of Ontario, California.

Colorado State Patrol first spotted the vehicle in Mack and followed them until they got off at the Fruita exit. By the time CSP got off, they found the vehicle abandoned near the Fruita Rec Center.

This initiated a shelter in place at the Fruita Rec Center and at the Fruita Hospital. These have since been lifted.

Multiple agencies have since responded and have set up a perimeter to look for the suspects.

Colorado State Patrol tells us they searched the immediate area, including neighborhoods and backyards.

Authorities are asking people in the area to be vigilant.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

CSP is taking the lead on the investigation.
