GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)- Just after noon on Thursday, the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a call of a person who discovered an unresponsive female at the Emporium store on 21st Street and North Avenue. When police arrived, they found the female to be deceased.
Police are labeling the death as "suspicious," and released a photo of a person of interest that they received from a nearby business.
The person of interest was in the area of the business shortly before the reporting party called 911.

Additionally, the GJPD is seeking evidence that could have been captured on home security cameras or from video doorbells. If you live in the area of N. 15th Street to N. 23 Street, between North Avenue and Orchard Avenue, and you have potential video evidence on February 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., please contact the GJPD as well.

K-9 units were on the ground this afternoon aiding investigators. When police arrived, they quickly shut down the westbound lanes of North Avenue.
The Mesa County Coroner's Office will be responsible for releasing the identity of the female victim and the manner of death.
