City replaces sewer lines on 31 Road, more construction to come

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - If you live on 31 Road, there might be a little construction outside your door.

The city is replacing sewer lines on 31 Road from D ½ to E road beginning today. The city of Grand Junction is just laying the framework for the County’s plans of reconstructing E road this summer. E road will be expanded from two lanes to three (a middle lane for turning) and will have sidewalks and a bike lane.

“It’s a project that’s going to be good for the community as a whole and I know, construction—people don’t like to deal with it, but it’s going to really improve that corridor through there. It makes it a lot safer for pedestrians, for people who want to ride a bike, or any other way of getting around down there, and it will help with the traffic,” says Scott Mai, Deputy Director of Public Works.

For the next month or so, the city asks that drivers take alternate routes on 31 Road if possible or allow for a little extra time in getting to your destination.
