One arrested in connection to man found dead in Las Colonias Park bathroom

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)- On December 30, 2019, emergency personnel were dispatched to 715 Struthers Avenue after they received a report of an unresponsive male found in the restrooms at Las Colonias Park.

On Friday, police arrested Joshua Baltazar Gallegos, 23, of Fruita, with second-degree murder for the death of 31-year-old Phillip Gallegos.

The Grand Junction Police Department has confirmed that the two were brothers.

Phillip Gallegos was pronounced dead at the scene and suffered multiple gunshot wounds according to the Mesa County Coroner's Office.

Joshua Gallegos is currently in the custody of another law enforcement agency on unrelated charges.

In relation to this case, Joshua Gallegos is facing charges of Assault in the First Degree, Possession of Weapons by a Previous Offender, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He remains in the custody of the La Plata County Detention Facility. Facility.
