GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)- UPDATE: The Mesa County Coroner's Office has just released that the cause of death of the nine-year-old girl was poisoning. It is unknown at this time what type of poison was used.

Jeffrey Beagley, 34, of Grand Junction has been arrested for Murder in the First Degree, Child Abuse Resulting in Death, along with other charges in the death of a 9-year-old girl in Grand Junction.
Early Saturday morning on November 9, emergency personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 Block of Hill Avenue on a report of an unresponsive child. When Grand Junction Police and Fire arrived, they found an unresponsive 9-year-old female who was not conscious and breathing. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, Beagley was arrested for First-Degree Murder, Child Abuse Resulting in Death, and Reckless Manslaughter in relation to the child's death.
Additionally, he faces charges of Attempted Sex Assualt on a Child by One in a Position of Trust, Sexual Exploitation of Children, and Invasion of Privacy for Sexual Gratification.
Additional information will be provided by the Mesa County Coroners Office, and we will update this story as we receive the information.
Beagley is in the custody of the Mesa County Detention Facility.
