MESA, Colo. (KJCT) - We’ve been watching other resorts open over the past month and, frankly, we've been pretty jealous, but our day is finally here. Powderhorn opened for business and, boy, were they packed.
We’re told conditions today were even a little better than last year's opening day. The base depth-up on the mountain is about 28 inches after seeing some fresh powder last night.
“The snow is better than it was yesterday because I can ride it today,” says snowboarder Shane Fuchs.
“I think the season this year; we're looking forward to a lot of our projects from the summer coming to fruition. Certainly we hope it snows just like it did last year, too,” said Powderhorn general manager Ryan Schramm.
The resort is encouraging more people to make the drive and see the new projects, like the tiny home lodging and a program for folks new to the slopes.
