Annual Veteran’s Day Parade

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The annual Veteran’s Day Parade took place today in downtown Grand Junction.

Motorcycles, bicycles, walkers, and retro cars all took to Main Street today in support of all veterans, living or deceased. They’re expecting upwards of fifty groups to come out and support today. Event organizers told me that while this event is mainly to honor veterans, the appreciation of our freedom is something really unifying for everyone that comes out.

“A lot of people nowadays show appreciation, back in my day of course, I was a Vietnam veteran. I didn’t go to Vietnam but I was in that era. They didn’t like us much. We were treated badly when we came home. Nowadays, they thank us. That’s very important,” says Rick Sheley, a veteran at the event.

Cheering on vets like Rick in the parade just lets them know that they’re appreciated as they travel west from Eighth Street.

Organizers say they estimate over one-thousand people showed up to the parade this afternoon.

This Veteran’s Day, they ask that you take a moment to remember the sacrifice.
