Halloween candy buy back to benefit troops

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Maybe you're sick of Halloween candy or you just got far too much. If so, Ruby Canyon Dental might have the answer for you.

They’re partnering with Operation Independence for their 11th annual candy buy back. Your unopened Halloween candy sitting around will be bought for a dollar a pound. It’s not just because the dentists are out to protect your teeth.

“What we found, and actually as we’ve gotten to know these organizations are that a lot of the troops, they don’t receive packages or they don’t receive little notes that help them know that they’re appreciated. So this is one way that we can contribute,” says dentist Derek Dean.

In past years, they've collected over five hundred pounds. The event will be happening on Monday from ten to six at their office off of Patterson road.
