Homeless shelter for vets fundraising to keep facility

MONTROSE,Colo. (KJCT) - For seven years, the nonprofit called The Warrior’s Rest in Montrose has quietly given food, shelter, and clothing to veterans in need.

Their mission is to provide these essentials so that these homeless heroes can get a job and get back on their own two feet. Now they’re the ones that need a little help. Their landlord is selling the property and they’re fundraising to keep their home.

“I didn’t have any money, didn’t have much to eat so I came here, they took me in and they gave me a place to stay, food to eat. They helped me look for work and stuff like that,” says resident Michael Young.

Michael now has a job and pays rent. He and many others like him are at risk of losing the roof over their heads.
