Fifth annual Mesa County Fields of Faith

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The fifth annual Mesa County Fields of Faith took place at the Brownson Arena at CMU Sunday evening.

Fields of Faith is a rapidly-growing event happening in 500 other places all across the world in October. Put on here locally by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, tonight is supposed to be a night of community, connection, and hope. The focus will be celebrating the testimonies of coaches and student-athletes from schools all across the valley.

Through the common ground of sports, this event is aimed at showcasing stories about the great things happening in Mesa County. Tina even credits the power and strength of the community coming together in lowering teen suicide rates a few years ago.

"In the '50's, our founder saw athletes using their platform to sell cigarettes on TV and they used to do that, if you can believe it. And he said, "Why not use that medium for good?" It's so much more than about sport, it's about life,” says Tina Snover, Western Colorado Multi-Area Director for the FCA Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

While this event is geared towards both Christians and Athletes, I'm told you don't have to be either to come tonight, you just need a pair of tennis shoes.
