GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- City leaders are working to get input from the community about ways to have fun on the river near the Las Colonias Business Park.
The City of Grand Junction held a meeting Tuesday night at the Edgewater Brewery right next to the amphitheater.
People in the water industry came out to talk about what they would like to see when the park opens up.
Daniel Brown, the director for Colorado Discoverability, wants the river to be more accessible to those with a disability.
“For a lot of our participants, it's difficult just getting into a raft if they were want to float onto a river. So things you may not even consider like having a concrete surface rather than a gravel surface makes a big difference for someone in a wheelchair to get to and from the water,” said Brown.
The city is working on Phase 1 and 1A of the project which connects the business park to the Riverside Parkway. That part of the project should wrap up in August.
