Stabbing of 20-year-old, convenience store robbery connected

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -- Authorities said a suspect in a Dec. 5 murder has also been charged in the armed robbery of a convenience store that occurred two days after the murder.

Terrence Richardson is facing charges in the stabbing death of Caleb Fettig in the A&W Trailer Park off North Avenue.

Richardson is also charged in the Dec. 7 armed robbery of the C&F Store on North Avenue, according to arrest documents, .

Richardson is being held in the Mesa County jail on a $1 million bond.

He is facing a long list of charges including first and second degree murder, felony menacing, theft, and aggravated robbery.

According to the arrest affidavit, the clerk at the C&F Store said the suspect had a gun and demanded that he open the register. The suspect took cash and some cigarettes before leaving.

Police said they were able to track the suspect's footprints in the snow to the A&W Trailer Park where Richardson was later arrested.

Police have not said what led up to the stabbing or if the Fettig and Richardson knew each other.

Richardson will be back in court on January 4.
