CSP: CU Boulder students stopped in Fruita after pursuit through Utah, Colorado

FRUITA, Colo.-- Five Colorado University Boulder students on spring break were stopped after a pursuit that started Thursday on I-70 in Utah and ended near Fruita, according to Colorado State Patrol.

Officers on scene said a woman and four men, students from Hong Kong were clocked at driving 111 miles per hour in Utah, and 110 miles per hour in Colorado.

Utah troopers pursued the black Audi up until Rabbit Valley, when a CSP aircraft spotted them. Colorado troopers staged at mile marker 13 in order to set up a rolling road block.

The pursuit ended at mile marker 17.

There was no immediate word on what started the pursuit,

All occupants were detained during the stop, but were later released.

The driver was charged with reckless driving and speeding by CSP, police said. Utah troopers did not press charges.

Traffic was blocked for a short amount of time. No injuries were reported.
