Police say Oscar Rodriguez knocked his girlfriend unconscious in an instance of domestic violence last night.

He told GJPD he went to bed after making sure she was breathing, but the woman was unresponsive when he woke up.

That's when Rodriguez called police to his home in the 2800 block of Hall Avenue.

First responders arrived to find her unconscious at about 8:30 Thursday morning.

They say the woman has serious injuries.

Rodriguez is charged with second-degree assault and domestic violence and is being held without bond in the Mesa County Jail.
