2020 Capitol Christmas tree will come from the Western Slope
The U.S. Forest Service announced Friday that the 2020 Capitol Christmas tree will come from the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests.
This is the fourth tree from Colorado that will be making its way to Washington D.C.
“It’s a huge honor and a wonderful opportunity to share the beauty of our forests here in Colorado with everyone in the country," says Marti Whitmore, Choose Outdoors.
Within the next few months, the U.S. Forest Service will be reaching out to locals here to help make around 10,000 ornaments for the capital Christmas tree.
A tree has not been selected yet, but it will be chopped down next November
