Mailbox vandals turn themselves in, police say

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO/KJCT)-- Two men have turned themselves, claiming they were the ones responsible for damaging mailboxes in a local neighborhood.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, Cole Kennedy, 19, and Diego Navarro, 19, walked into the police station at Colorado Mesa University and confessed to damaging mailboxes in the 2100 block of North 17th Circle in Grand Junction.

The vandalism reportedly happened on the weekend of Oct. 7 and Oct. 8.

A citation showed that the two men identified themselves in a video recorded by a neighbor. Police said the two were cooperative and apologetic.

Police said the total damage was about $350.

Kennedy and Navarro were issued summonses for criminal mischief, according to police.
