GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On Sept. 7 hundreds of people with a passion for racing were at Highland Lake for the 8th annual Desert's Edge Triathlon.
The event is hosted by MAD Racing Colorado. They started the races at 8:00 a.m. this morning with Olympic swimming. Then, they moved on to biking up and down steep hills around Highline Lake for thirteen miles, and they finished it off with running for five miles.
"It's just a challenge managing three different sports. And it's a lot of focus that's required on all the turns, and so not so much, it is on the heart too but, really on the mind and a test on focus and paying attention to all the curves,” says Rangely Colorado Racer Katrina Schilling.
The first, second, and third place winners of each section received a medal. The event will continue on through Sept. 8 at 8:00 a.m.
