One person is dead after a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 40 north of Kremmling Wednesday. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office said an SUV and a semi-truck crashed and the semi caught fire at about 12:30 p.m.
The driver of the SUV did not survive, according to the sheriff’s office. Highway 40 has been closed for hours in the area, and will continue to be shut down while Colorado State Patrol investigates the crash.
Colorado State Patrol said eastbound traffic on Highway 40 leaving Steamboat Springs is being detoured to CO 131, and westbound Highway 40 is closed in Kremmling.
