Grand Rivers Humane Society spotlights active shepherd mix

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) — The Grand Rivers Humane Society is highlighting Suki, a 2-year-old shepherd mix, as its Pet of the Week and is seeking an active family to give her a permanent home.

Brady Kappius, a representative of the organization, said Suki is a young adult dog with plenty of energy and a love for outdoor adventures. She enjoys walks, responds well to treats and already knows how to sit, making her a good candidate for further training.

“Suki is going to be an easy one to train,” Kappius said. “She’s very treat-motivated and loves being around people.”

The full-grown shepherd mix would be best suited for an active owner who enjoys hiking, biking or other outdoor activities. While she could potentially live with other dogs, Kappius said introductions should be done slowly because she can be selective with canine companions.

Because of her size and enthusiasm, the humane society recommends a home with children older than 8 years old.
