COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - After the Jaylen Waddle trade the Denver Broncos first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft didn’t come until 62. But once Denver was up they decided they could wait a little bit longer. Trading back to 66 and getting pick 182 from the Bills.

So, three picks into the third round the Broncos went defensive line. Tyler Onyedim out of Texas A&M.

A versatile guy in the trenches. 6′ 4″ 295 lbs. He had 8.5 tackles for loss last year and 2.5 sacks. Onyedim says his strength is his first step and he considers himself a ‘true d-lineman’.

Denver going d-line isn’t shocking. During free agency Denver lost DE John Franklin-Myers to the Tennessee Titans. JFM leaves a big hole on the line.

“The mindset is to learn don’t be an arrogant person,” Onyedim said on a media conference call after hearing his name called.

“I prayed to God. I’ve been praying about this my whole entire life ... I knew the coach really wanted me I just had a feeling they were picking me,” the newest Denver Bronco said.

Former Denver Bronco and Super Bowl 50 champion safety T.J. Ward announced the Broncos’ pick in Pittsburgh.

This was the first time since 1995 the Broncos didn’t select until the third round.

KKTV is at Broncos headquarters tonight and will have more on their pick on 11 News at 10.
