Rescue teams pull unresponsive man from Colorado River
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - UPDATE as of 1:24 p.m. on Saturday, March 18
Rescue teams pulled a man from the Colorado River on Thursday following reports of a man yelling for help from the river.
When crews arrived on scene, the 51-year-old man was unresponsive. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
While the incident is still under investigation, all indications at this time show that the death was accidental.
The family requested that name of the victim not be released.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Rescue teams pulled a man from the Colorado River Thursday afternoon after getting calls about a man yelling for help from the water.
Teams from the Grand Junction Police Department, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Grand Junction Fire Department rushed to assist in the rescue after the call came in at about 1:20 p.m.
Authorities say that the man was unconscious and not breathing when he was pulled from the river near the 5th Street Bridge. Officials confirm that he was taken to a hospital, but his status is unknown at this time.
No other information was released by authorities.
