GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Police in Grand Junction say they were unable to find and arrest a felony menacing suspect Friday morning after raiding a home in the area of 32 1/8 and D Roads.

Investigators report that one shot was fired inside the building, causing a woman and two children to flee outside. Police evacuated surrounding apartments, then tear gassed the building after hearing no response from anyone inside. At this point, law enforcement says that it believed the suspect to still be in the home.

The Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office sent a combined SWAT team to breach the building only to find it empty.

Authorities say that they do not know where the suspect is, and stated that they are still at large. No information on the suspect’s gender, appearance, or age has been released by authorities.

The 911 call came in at around 10:14 a.m, say police.
