Fire crews and police officers respond to early morning fire at a mobile home on Highway 50

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - UPDATE (10:15 a.m.): Early Thursday morning, the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of an individual stuck inside a house that was on fire.

According to the fire department, crews received the call at 3:56 a.m. and responded to the 600 block of Hwy 50.

Grand Junction Police officers were in the area and were able to quickly arrive on scene and rescue the single occupant from the burning home. Fire crews arrived as the victim was being removed from the home and they were able to provide care to the individual.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Fire crews found heavy smoke coming from the home and were able to extinguish the blaze. The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation.

INITIAL ARTICLE (8:40 a.m.): The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to an early morning fire at a mobile home in Grand Junction on Thursday.

Crews responded to the Elm Mobile Home Park off of Highway 50. Grand Junction police were also on the scene.
