GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Tuesday evening a stretch of eastbound I-70 was closed due to several accidents, which included a Colorado State Patrol (CSP) vehicle being slammed into by another vehicle near mile marker 50.

According to CSP, the trooper was out of their vehicle and was investigating other accidents in the area at the time their vehicle was hit.

The interstate was slick throughout De Beque Canyon and multiple crashes were reported. Because of these conditions, authorities closed eastbound lanes between Exit 47 - James M Robb Colorado River State Park and Exit 49 - CO 65 Grand Mesa for several hours during the evening.

All lanes reopened later at night, and road conditions have continued to improve.
