Your First Warn 8 Forecast

A few clouds for the weekend, otherwise the seasonable temperatures continue...

UPDATED: 3:14 pm MST February 3, 2012
Tonight: A few clouds will persist across the Western Slope, and there may even be a few scattered flurries in the high country. Temperatures will bottom out around 24° in Grand Junction, 20° in Montrose and generally teens elsewhere. The normally colder areas, like Gunnison, will fall close to 0°.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and comfortable for the beginning of February. High temperatures thru the valleys will climb into the upper 30s to lower 40s. The mountains will top out in the upper 20s to lower 30s, with a bit more cloud cover. I also can not rule out the possibility of some mountain snow showers tomorrow, especially across the San Juans.

Extended: A few more clouds move in for Sunday, and perhaps a bit of light mountain snowfall as well. High temperatures will again be in the 40s. Sunshine returns for Monday and looks to stick around through much of next week. High temperatures will continue to run in the mid 40s to right around 50°, which is slightly above normal for this time of year. Currently there are no big storms lurking on the horizon for the Western Slope. If you are a lover of sunshine, that's great! If you are someone itching to get in some powder skiing, such as myself, it's a bit of a bummer. Either way, have a great weekend!

FRONT RANGE BLIZZARD: A major winter storm will continue to pummel the Front Range and Eastern Plains today, and it will not leave until Saturday. Areas east of the Continental Divide will receive between ONE and TWO FEET, or more, of new snow by Saturday afternoon. That includes the Denver metro area. To make matters worse, the wind will be a factor as well. The falling snow and wind will create near white out conditions on area roadways. Travel will become very dangerous, and is highly discouraged by C-DOT.
