April Davis

Daybreak Anchor
Connect With Me:

April Davis drove across the country from Jacksonville, NC where she worked as a reporter and anchored the evening news in Greenville, NC for a Gray sister station, WITN. She specialized in military reporting in Jacksonville, home to Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River.

April is originally from the other Carolina. She grew up in Easley and Greenville, SC. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor's degree in journalism, she made her first cross country trip to Alaska. Her first job was at KTUU in Anchorage. She reported and produced there 3 years and then anchored, produced and reported for the evening news at the ABC station, KIMO. One of her favorite lifetime assignments was covering the Iditarod Sled Dog Race every year and hanging out with tough mushers along the more than 1,100 mile long Last Great Race trail. Her coverage of FAA GPS flight system testing in Alaska's whiteout flying conditions earned her an AP award, along with awards for crime and courts and public service reporting.

April left Alaska and (you guessed it) drove back across the country to the east coast landing in Savannah, GA to be closer to family. Her work a s a crime and courts reporter earned her a spot on CNN's Nancy Grace show several nights. She also earned several AP awards for best anchor/ reporter, crime and courts, investigative, and series reporting. She also spent a life-changing week reporting on the aftermath of hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. She then headed home to Greenville, SC and launched a new morning show as the co-anchor before working in NC.

April has never stopped longing for the mountains of the west and decided if she could live anywhere in America, Colorado was the perfect place for her. She's excited to explore the Grand Valley with her dog and enjoy some of the country's best hiking, biking, skiing, and wineries. You can watch her weekdays 5-7am on Daybreak on KKCO and KJCT. Contact her on Facebook or Twitter @DaybreakApril. She'd love to hear your story ideas!
