Russ Pappas joined the First Warn 8 weather team as the Chief Meteorologist in February of 2014. He debuted his forecast on Valentine's Day during KJCT's 5, 6 and 10pm newscast.
Russ was born in Connecticut and raised in Oklahoma. He began his Broadcast Meteorology career in early 2000 while living in Colorado and working as a host for the Good Morning Vail show. Russ lived in Mississippi on different occasions working first for a CBS affiliate and most recently for an NBC/FOX affiliate as their Morning Meteorologist. Between jobs in the Magnolia State, Russ worked in El Paso, TX for four years as the Weekend Weather Anchor/News Reporter for two NBC affiliates and one CBS affiliate under one roof!
Russ was a Communications Major at Columbia College in Missouri and he studied Meteorology at Mississippi State and he is currently pursuing the American Meteorological Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) Seal.
Russ is married, has two children and likes to spend his free time with his family at the local parks and stopping by every yard sale for a good deal or great conversation. If you see him strolling out and about, stop and "tell him what you know"!
