GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. In their first meeting of the season, Grand Junction held off Fruita Monument for the 8-5 win.
On Friday night, the second match appeared it would shake out much differently- at least in the first quarter.
The Tigers got on the board first off a goal from Charlie Ruckman, but Fruita then put up four straight goals to go up 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The momentum was entirely with Fruita Monument until the expected physicality of the match shifted that in the favor of the Tigers, who chipped away at the lead to trail just 4-3 at the half.
Grand Junction opened up the third quarter with three more goals, to make it five unanswered, and they didn't look back, taking care of the Wildcats again 10-5.
