GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Tigers finished their regular season a week ago on a bit of a sour note, defeating Fruita Monument is a sloppy game. They were awarded a 4 seed by the CHSAA tournament committee, which was considered by many to be low for a 20-win team.
After their first round bye they took the court on Saturday, hosting 12th seeded Rampart in the second round.
The Tigers' Broderick Robinson lit a fire under his team early, scoring 15 of his game-high 31 points in the first quarter. They took a single digit lead into the half, and kept the Rams from getting too close in the final two quarters.
They come away with 67-56 win over Rampart, and will travel to the front range to face (1) Denver East on Wednesday.
