GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction boys basketball team is just one day away from their first playoff game, this one coming in the second round of the state tournament.
The Tigers finished off the season 20-2, earning a 4-seed and first round bye for the second straight year. This Saturday the Rampart Rams come in as their competition, a 12-seed that upset a 5-seed earlier this week. So Grand Junction knows seeding can be thrown out the window, and they'll focus on having fun and playing ball.
"I'm nervous," said Broderick Robinson. "I don't want to be done playing, but from here on out, 100%, I don't want to be done, nobody here wants to be done, so we're going to try to make a run."
"It's always the same ingredient, which is to defend and rebound," said head coach Dutch Johnson. "That's what's been our key to success up to this point in the season, especially in the playoffs. You're playing a team that can score and they're there for a reason."
Grand Junction plays Saturday at 2:00 PM at Grand Junction High School.
