GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Rockies are back and ready for the start of a new season.
Last year's coaching staff returns, along with three players - Dom Nunez, Wesley Jones, and Terry McClure. While athletes from the draft still await assignments, the majority of the roster has already suited up and hit Suplizio Field to get in some practice time.
The past two seasons Grand Junction has struggled to put together two strong halves of play. Both times the team has come close to a championship series but fallen short.
This time around they're ready to shake things up and take their season through September.
"This is an exciting time," said manager Anthony Sanders. "A lot of the young kids have never even played baseball in the lights before with the crowd, so it's going to be an experience, and we get to evaluate them as they go."
The Rockies open their season on the road against Ogden Monday, June 16. Their home opener is Friday, June 20.
