GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. While the MLB trade deadline loomed, the Grand Junction Rockies were working on some moves of their own, just not in the player department.

Colorado-born BJ Miller has been hired on to serve as assistant general manager, replacing Mike Ruvolo who spent the last 2 1/2 seasons with Grand Junction.

From a logistics standpoint, Miller has an MBA, but he's no stranger to the sports realm. He's played football at the collegiate and professional levels and knows exactly what it takes to excel.

Now he's ready to bring his business skills and sports expertise to the table, serving the Grand Junction community in multiple capacities from overseeing the host program to ensuring fans have a great experience at Suplizio Field.

"I'm just tremendously excited to be here," said Miller "I think this is a big change for me, but it's something I'm really excited about and looking forward to being here and getting to know the community and the franchise more."

"I'm very excited for him because he fits the mold that we're looking for," said general manager Tim Ray. "I know that he's very excited as well to get his feet wet and introduce himself throughout the community."
