GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Rockies had another split week, going 3-3 after a run-in with Helena at home and Missoula on the road.
The most recent game came on Friday night, when Grand Junction faced off against the Missoula Osprey, closing out a three-game series. While the Rockies scored two in the first inning, they’d be held to a goose egg the remainder of the game and ultimately fall 3-2.
Once again it was a combined effort from the mound. Harrison Musgrave got the start, allowing four hits and one run, that coming in the fourth inning. Schlitter, Betancourt, Black, Bello, and Crawford all combined for the final four and two-thirds innings.
They kept the Osprey shut into the ninth inning. Grand Junction entered with a 2-1 advantage, but that would come to a screeching halt when Dane McFarland stepped to the plate. With one out he hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth, and Missoula took the win 3-2.
Grand Junction falls to 17-14, dropping to third place in the South Division for the first time this season. Orem and Idaho Falls lead the pack with Ogden five games behind in fourth place.
The Rockies travel to face Helena in a four-game series starting Saturday.
